Our Services

For Parents and Carers

With funding from Birmingham Forward Carers, we offer free courses for parents and carers, developed and delivered by adults with ADHD.

Nurturing ADHD Kids Courses

Children do not need to have already received the diagnosis – we work with families who are on the assessment pathway as well. The courses are 90 minutes a week for six weeks. We run them online twice every half term – one in the daytime and one in the evening. We run face-to-face courses across Birmingham

Nurturing ADHD Kids Courses

In this 6-week course, parents and carers will learn:

  • About the current understanding of ADHD
  • Understand the effect on our mental health
  • Understand the reasons behind behaviours
  • Gain confidence in advocating for their children
  • Learn new strategies
  • Meet other parents and carers of neurodivergent children

After joining the course you are invited to join our community of parents and carers on Facebook and Discord.

Testimonials from Parents and Carers

  • I found this course when I was desperately searching for some advice on how to support my suspected ADHD / Autistic child in day-to-day life whilst on the waiting list for a diagnosis. Which in my area is 2-3 years plus. It is a very lonely and isolating experience when you don’t feel like anybody understands your reality or how hard it is. You also feel like you are failing as a parent. This course is a ray of light in that fog of worry and stress, and it has been invaluable to me. I have felt seen and heard…

  • This weekly online course has been so helpful. It has opened my eyes and brain to the neuro divergent world. Each week a step-by-step breakdown is given. I’ve now met other parents who also have kids who are ADHD and it’s made me feel less alone and has made me feel that other parents are going through the same as me. Nora has been absolutely brilliant. The fact that she’s also ADHD has given me a better insight into ADHD. I started these sessions not knowing much and have come out knowing so much more.

  • As a primary school teacher who has attended numerous training sessions on SEND and ADHD I was initially sceptical about how much I would learn on this course, but I was completely blown away. Nora has reframed how I view ADHD, how I am able to help both my own children and those children I am teaching and explained so much. It has been phenomenal how much I have learnt over the last six weeks. I cannot thank Nora enough for sharing her expertise.

Peer Advocacy

Sometimes, it can be difficult navigating the SEN system and communicating with schools about your child’s needs. Some of the most helpful support can come from other parents.

We recognise that this whole process is stressful especially if you, the parent, are also neurodivergent or if English is not your first language.

We offer peer advocacy. We have parent volunteers who will listen to your concerns and attend meetings at school with you, ensuring that your voice is heard and that you also understand what the school is saying.

ADHD Awareness Training

For Schools and Professionals

As awareness and understanding of ADHD has grown, an increased number of children are being assessed for and diagnosed with ADHD. Are your teachers, teaching assistants and support staff up – to – date with the current understanding of ADHD. Do they know what to look out for and how to support these students?

We offer training and workshops run by a former teacher who has ADHD herself that explains why children act the way they do and recommends practical strategies that can help.
